Yukteswar

Introduction

An alternate theory about mankind’s development is that our history is not a linear progression but occurs in cycles.

That mankind’s intelligence gradually increases, reaches a peak and then gradually decreases, reaches a nadir and then starts to ascend again. A profound book written in 1894 by Swami Sri Yukteswar called The Holy Science discusses his ideas on this subject. In a brief introduction to the main theme of the book (which discusses the underlying unity between religions) he explains mankind’s mental and spiritual development throughout the ages.

He claims that our Sun takes some star for its dual and revolves around it in about 24,000 years of our Earth and this (see below image) is what causes the apparent backward movement of the equinoctial points around the zodiac.

Pretend the dotted line that looks away from the Sun is an observer looking out toward the constellations. Notice the observer now has a changing orientation to inertial space and over time at each vernal equinox, his gaze can precess through the constellations without any independent torqueing of the Earth required.

Zoom in to see the “incremental change” in orientation to inertial space now attributed to lunisolar induced axial wobble. One year of this change is equivalent to the annual rate of precession. See how the accumulated change results in “apparent wobble” with the earth axis tracing a 360 degree circle in the sky.

Notice the Earth does make a 360 degree motion “relative to the Sun” but this is not a 360 motion relative to inertial space. The reason is simple, as the Sun curves it causes the observer on Earth (attached to the Sun by gravity) to slowly turn to see a different point in inertial space each year. This is the same “observable” attributed to an Earth torqued by lunisolar forces.

The Sun curving through space in a binary orbit solves many more problems than just precession mechanics.

An interesting website that explores this possibility is the Sirius Research Group who actually seem to prove it mathematically. Another site that researches this topic is Walter Cruttenden’s Binary Research Institute.

Dharma

At the same time, the Sun also has another motion by which it revolves round a grand center called Vishnunabhi, which is the seat of the creative power of the universe, Brahma.

Brahma regulates dharma, the mental virtue of the internal world. When the Sun, in its revolution around its dual, comes to the place nearest to this grand center, (which takes place when the Autumnal Equinox reaches the First Point of Aries¹, the star Zeta Piscium²), dharma, the mental virtue, becomes so much developed that man can easily comprehend all, even the mysteries of Spirit.

After 12,000 years, when the Sun goes to the place in its orbit furthest from Brahma (which takes place when the Autumnal Equinox is on the First Point of Libra), the mental abilities of man is so reduced that he cannot grasp anything beyond the gross material creation.

Then in the same manner, the sun begins its advance to return to the place nearest the grand center and mental virtue begins to develop again for another 12,000 years and completes the 24,000 year cycle.

Rate of Precession

Modern science tells us that the present rate of precession is about 1º in 72 years.

At that rate it would take 25,920 years for the equinoctial points to complete one trip through the zodiac (72 x 360º), not 24,000 years as Yukteswar claims. However there is no proof that the present rate of precession is constant throughout the entire cycle. If in fact our Sun is revolving around another star in an elliptical orbit, the relative velocity of the star is slowest at its apoapsis and fastest at its periapsis (point closest to its focus). Thus with an average period of 24,000 years, the measured relative velocity at apoapsis may correspond to 26,000 years, and 23,000 years or less at periapsis.

Yukteswar claims we were at the apopsis of our orbit at around 500 AD when the Autumnal Equinox reached 0°of Libra. The intellectual power of man was so diminished that we could not comprehend anything beyond the gross material matter of creation.

History seems to bear this out as it was one of the darkest periods of mankind with the fall of the Western Roman Empire just a few years earlier and the beginning of what was eventually termed the "Dark Ages".

The Four Yugas

The development of dharma, Yukteswar goes on to explain, is gradual and divided into four different stages or Yugas in an ascending arc of 12,000 years.

The first stage is called Kali Yuga during which the Sun passes through 1/20^th portion of its entire orbit or 1200 years. The human intellect cannot comprehend anything beyond gross material creation, the external world. The next stage or age is called Dwapara Yuga which the Sun passes through 2/20^th of its orbit or 2400 years.

The human intellect can comprehend the fine matters or electricities and their attributes which are the creating principles of the external world. The period of 3600 years which the Sun passes through 3/20^th of its orbit is called Treta Yuga.

Our intellect can then comprehend the divine magnetism, the source of all electrical forces on which creation depends for its existence. The period of 4800 years during which the Sun passes through the remaining 4/20^th orbit is called Satya Yuga.

The mental virtue is in its fourth stage and completes its full development. Human intellect can comprehend all, even God the Spirit beyond this visible world and dharma has reached its peak. It now begins to decline in a descending arc of 12,000 years and mankind gradually loses dharma as it once again travels through the four Yugas in reverse order.

The following diagram may be helpful:

As you can see from the above diagram, the Autumnal Equinox entered the ascending Dwapara Yuga around the year 1700 and so we are currently just 300 years (or barely 1/8) into this 2400 year Yuga which is scheduled to last until the year 4100 AD.

Obviously the last 300 years has seen a tremendous advance in our knowledge of the universe. It should also be pointed out that as you pass from one age to another there is a transitional period from one to the other that is proportionate to the length of the age in question.

So the Kali Yuga, for instance, that has a total length of 1200 years, has a transition time of 100 years at its start and end plus the 1000 years sandwiched in between to make the total 1200 years.

In similar fashion Dwapara Yuga has a 200 year transition + 2000 years + another 200 year transition at its end and Treta has a similar 300+3000+300 and Satya 400+4000+400. In this scenario, 1600 AD would mark the beginning of the 100 year transition out of the last Kali Yuga. Therefore, 1700 AD would begin the 200 year transition into the Dwapara Yuga and 1900 would be the start of the actual Dwapara Yuga proper.

No one can argue that the last 100 years of the 20^th century has seen an unparalleled advance in knowledge throughout the world which corresponds to our finally entering into the Dwapara Age proper in 1900 AD.

Age of Aquarius

Another point you may notice from the diagram, is that it is the Autumnal not the Spring or Vernal Equinox which seems to be the true indicator of mankind’s state of development in the world today.

As you can see, the Autumnal Equinox is falling in the constellation of Virgo and so the Vernal Equinox would be in its opposite sign of Pisces. Since western astrologers always give prime importance to the Vernal Equinox they say we are in the Piscean Age. However, as demonstrated above, there can be little doubt that it is the Autumnal Equinox that is of prime importance and that we are really in the Age of Virgo and will then enter the Age of Leo around 2500 AD.

This brings up another widespread misconception in that you are always hearing about how we are already feeling the vibrations and effects of the "Aquarian Age". That this is what’s causing the "enlightenment" of the last few years. Nothing could be further from the truth. Even if the Vernal Equinox was the prime indicator of mankind’s development, it will still be about 500 years before it will reach Aquarius or a good 25% of the entire sign of Pisces is in fact left.

In astrological terms this is about 7.5 degrees (30°per sign x 0.25=7.5°). Influences between planetary bodies do not even begin to be felt until they are at least within 5-6 degrees of an exact angle or conjunction. The closer they come to their exact angle the more intense the effect.

A fuller explanation of orbs of influence in astrological terms is provided:

All aspects have an allowable tolerance of exactness, called the orb of the aspect. The orb is the permissible degree to which an aspect can vary from the exact number of degrees characteristic of that aspect. Major aspects--that is, conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions--are allowed an orb of up to 6° in natal Astrology.... [the birth chart of an individual]

Major transiting or progressed aspects are allowed a 1° orb, unless the Sun or the Moon is involved, in which case 2º can be allowed.3

Obviously, in discussing the precession of the equinoctial points around the zodiac we are not referring to the horoscope of an individual but of the current movement of our entire solar system.

In other words a transit. Therefore one can assume, at the most, a 1° to 2° orb before the so-called "Aquarian Age" effects would even begin to be felt. Even assuming a 6° orb we are still much too far away to even begin to feel any effects from the constellation of Aquarius.

You may wonder why the Autumnal Equinox and not the Vernal Equinox is the true indicator of world conditions.

In a series of articles for East-West Magazine called "Astrological World Cycles", Laurie Pratt writes that:

...it may be that the 24,000 year equinoctial cycle which we are now traversing is a female or negative cycle, and therefore the Autumnal, rather than the Vernal Equinox is of primary importance during this period, for ancient astrological rules tell us that Libra 0° (the place of the Autumnal Equinox) is the natural starting point for a female horoscope, just as Aries 0° is for a male.4

Decline of Civilization

If Yukteswar’s theory is correct, mankind has had 12,000 years of declining mental development that reached its nadir in 500 AD.

This would mean in the remote past of history man had reached a peak around the year 11,500 BC. Of course this is wholly at variance with the current theories of science and archeology.

However all theories should be subject to continual testing to see if they are valid. What exactly do we know about our remote past? Very little it would seem if you read about it. Much is unknown and there seems to be a lot of speculation. "Unknown" and "speculation" is not hard scientific fact.

Yet often the theories that are formulated from the available evidence is all we have, so that many times they are assumed to be fact when in reality they are at best, an educated guess.

Egypt

In re-examining the diagram above we can see that the last descending Dwapara Yuga started around the year 3100 BC. This corresponds with the beginning of the Dynastic period in Egypt. But how did this civilization in Egypt start? What happened before 3100 BC? No one seems to know.

As John Anthony West wrote in his book, Serpent in the Sky:

...every aspect of Egyptian knowledge seems to have been complete at the very beginning. The sciences, artistic and architectural techniques and the hieroglyphic system show virtually no sign of a period of ’development’; indeed, many of the achievements of the earliest dynasties were never surpassed, or even equaled later on.
This astonishing fact is readily admitted by orthodox Egyptologists, but the magnitude of the mystery it poses is skillfully understated, while its many implications go unmentioned.
How does a complex civilization spring full-blown into being?....The answer to the mystery is of course obvious, but because it is repellant to the cast of modern thinking, it is seldom seriously considered. Egyptian civilization was not a ’development’, it was a legacy.5

If it was a legacy from an earlier advanced civilization then this would tend to substantiate the diagram above. But a legacy from how long ago?

Dr. Robert M. Schoch has now provided for the first time some hard scientific evidence that gives some support to a much earlier date for the start of the Egyptian civilization.

Dating the Sphinx

West noted that R.A. Schwaller wrote in his book Sacred Science, that the weathering patterns observed on the Great Sphinx were due to water, not wind and sand.

West was stunned when he read this assertion as he had always assumed (along with most everyone else) that the wind had caused the weathering features seen on the Sphinx.

Not being a scientist himself, he naturally wanted a professional opinion from a geologist. When explaining his predicament to a friend at Boston University it aroused the interest of a geologist colleague, Dr. Robert M. Schoch. Schoch was a stratigrapher and paleontologist, and thus an expert in the weathering of soft rock.

As West explains,

....though my photographs [of the Sphinx] looked to his practiced eyes like typical water weathering, he was still deeply skeptical, mainly because it looked too obvious. Schoch found it difficult to believe that in two hundred years of studying, excavating and restoring the Giza Plateau, no one prior to Schwaller had noticed that the weathering on the Sphinx was water weathering, and no one prior to me [West] had noticed that this was peculiar to the Sphinx (and its immediate associated structures). His initial conviction was that, as an amateur, I must have overlooked some crucial piece of evidence that would allow the accepted dating and attribution to stand.6

As it turns out, Schwaller was right and his observation did "hold water".

The error West made was assuming that the water erosion was due to the Nile flooding in pre-historic times. According to Schoch, however, the weathering was precipitation based; in other words rainfall.

The Sphinx, of course, is located in the Sahara Desert. The implications of this fact is staggering. It means that the Sphinx and the adjacent Sphinx Temple (which shows the same weathering to the exclusion of all other structures in Egypt) were built at a time when it rained for thousands of years in that area.

As Schoch explains:

This line of thinking dates the original excavation of the Sphinx to somewhere on the order of 7000 to 5000BC, a figure that fits with the climactic history revealed in the rain erosion patterns. As earthshaking a calculation as this has proved to be to conventional Egyptology, it is in fact a conservative estimate that represents only a minimum age.7

The water-weathering pattern on the Sphinx makes sense only if the structure had been carved at a time when the Egyptian climate was much wetter than it is today. This indeed was the case at the end of the last Ice Age, circa 12,000 years ago8....

This would be the first corroborating piece of scientific evidence that could possibly show an alternate scenario for mankind’s development as opposed to the currently accepted theories.

In this regard, Schoch notes that:

The tidy scenario of a civilization that began in Sumeria in 3500BC and flowered in Old Kingdom Egypt of the Fourth Dynasty runs aground at Giza.9

The debate over Schoch’s conclusions rages on within the Egyptology community. Another source of great debate and speculation is also located on the Giza plateau, the Great Pyramid.

1 The "First Point of Aries" is the point where the Ecliptic and the Celestial Equator cross one another. It defines the zero-point for Right Ascension. When the Sun reaches this point every year we have the Vernal or Spring Equinox (around March 21st). The Autumnal Equinox occurs around September 22nd every year.

2 The ancient Hindu rishis claimed that a new "Day of Creation" is ushered in when all the planets, which belong to any given solar system, are placed in the same zodiacal degree. The very ancient Brahmagupta, one of the Jyotish works, is an astronomical treatise dealing with such matters as the heliocentric motion of the planetary bodies in our solar system, the obliquity of the ecliptic, the earth’s spherical form, the reflected light of the moon, the earth’s daily axial revolution, the presence of fixed stars in the Milky Way, the law of gravitation, and other scientific facts which did not dawn in the Western world until the time of Copernicus and Newton."
It is now well-known that the so-called "Arabic numerals," without whose symbols advanced mathematics is difficult, came to Europe in the 9^th century, via the Arabs, from India, where that system of notation had been anciently formulated. Further light on India’s vast scientific heritage will be found in Dr. P. C. Ray’s History of Hindu Chemistry, and in Dr. B. N. Seal’s Positive Sciences of the Ancient Hindus.

ANd btw, using sunscreen has never been proven to reduce your risk of melanoma. In fact, skin cancer rates have increased along with sunscreen use. Most sunscreens don't adequately block UVA, the rays that cause cancer. However, they do block UVB, which makes you burn. As a result, since you don't burn you end up staying out in the sun longer and actually exposing yourself to even more UVA rays.

It may be very common for stars to be in binary systems, and if our whole solar system is in orbit around a companion star, "it might explain all this distant folklore about the cycle of the ages," dark and golden periods talked about by over 40 different cultures, he said. Cruttenden spoke about sophisticated technology from the BC era, including some evidence we don't completely understand like the terra preta soil of the Amazon, and the Avebury stone circle.

Author/lecturer Joseph Selbie joined the show in the latter half, for a discussion about the "Cycle of the Yugas," an ancient timeline that describes how we are transitioning from a low energy to a higher energy phase, over a 24,000 year period. It's believed the Yugas are tied to the cycle of precession of the equinoxes, and that "the Earth...becomes exposed to some sort of influence from outside the solar system that causes this rise and fall...The closer we get to the galactic center, the higher the age," he detailed.

According to the theory of the Yugas, around 1700 AD, we entered into a 200 year transition into a new cycle, where humankind became more aware of energy, as well as psychic and intuitive abilities. Selbie also talked about how the Great Pyramid was built during a transition from a mental age to an energy age, and was designed to concentrate and expand consciousness.

“To the majority of people the words “Crown” and “City” in reference to London refer to the queen or the capital of England.” This is not the truth. The “City” is in fact a privately owned Corporation – or Sovereign State – occupying an irregular rectangle of 677 acres and located right in the heart of the 610 square mile ‘Greater London’ area. The population of ‘The City’ is listed at just over four thousand, whereas the population of ‘Greater London’ (32 boroughs) is approximately seven and a half million.
“The Crown” is a committee of twelve to fourteen men who rule the independent sovereign state known as London or ‘The City.’ ‘The City’ is not part of England. It is not subject to the Sovereign. It is not under the rule of the British parliament. Like the Vatican in Rome, it is a separate, Independent state.
“The City”, which is often called “the wealthiest square mile on earth,” is ruled over by a Lord Mayor. Here are grouped together Britain’s great financial and commercial institutions: Wealthy banks, dominated by the privately-owned (Rothschild controlled) Bank of England, Lloyd’s of London, the London Stock Exchange, and the offices of most of the leading international trading concerns. Here, also, is located Fleet Street, the heart and core of the newspaper and publishing worlds.

@Crocodonk Well put. The jewel is the pineal gland in the brain, the dragon is the libido force or "jing chi" or kundalini (sexual nerve energy.) The twin pillars = hemispheres of the nervous system (called Ida and Pingala). The 33 steps are the vertabrea of the spinal column. Secret chamber of the Crowned King is the skull - related to Golgotha (literally meaning "place of the skull") the hill (elevated ground) that Christ, "King of Jews" crowned with thorns, was crucified/attained apotheosis.

私がここで念頭に置いているのは、いま世界を席巻している新自由主義あるいは市場原理主義という経済理論だ。新自由主義の三本柱は「規制緩和」「民営化」「公共予算の削減」である。新自由主義はこの三本柱によって国家の市場への介入を最小化し、市場に任せておけば経済はうまく回るという「レッセ・フェール」（市場放任）の立場をとっている。
しかし、それが現実政治に適用されるとき、アダム・スミス流のレッセ・フェールとは似ても似つかぬ新自由主義のカルト性が姿を現すのだ。
ここに１冊の本がある。カナダのジャーナリストであるナオミ・クライン女史が書いた『The shock Doctrine』である。同書はニユーヨーク・タイムズのベストセラー欄の上位を長らく独占していた。日本ではまだ翻訳は出ていないが、アメリカ本国でこの衝撃的な「新自由主義の本質」に鋭く迫った本が出版され、しかもベストセラーになっているというのは、一つの時代の転機といえるだろう。
彼女によれば、新自由主義とは結局、破壊と衝撃を与えることによって歴史性や公共性を崩壊させ、強引に更地（さらち）にしてすべてを私物化していく手法だ。

◆フリードマンという教祖　
この新自由主義の教祖はミルトン・フリードマンである。彼が教鞭を執ったシカゴ大学経済学部の入り口には、「経済とは測定だ」と銅版に記してある。ここからも、このシカゴ学派が工学的発想にもとづいた人為によって社会を構築できるという思想を蔵していることがわかるだろう。
フリードマンは、1912年生まれのハンガリー系ユダヤ人移民の子である。彼は、新自由主義こそが完璧なシステムであり、市場を政府の介入から救い汚染されていない資本主義へ回帰することによってユートピアを実現できると考えた。
彼の提唱した新自由主義とは、政府のあらゆる規制を撤廃し、政府財産をすべて売却し、社会政策の予算を大幅に削減し、税率も最小限かつ貧富の格差に関係なく一律とすることである。ここにおいては、すべての価格は賃金も含めて市場が決めるのであり、医療保険、郵便局、教育、年金といった公共の福祉に関するものもすべて民営化すべきだと説いた。
フリードマンによると、政府がもつのは警察と軍隊で十分ということになるのだ。
では、この理論は現実にどのように適用されたのだろうか。
一番よい例が、2005年にルイジアナ州を直撃したハリケーン「カトリーナ」の災害復興だ。当時93歳のフリードマンは、いわば人生最後の政策提言として『ウォールストリート・ジャーナル』に寄稿している。
それによると、ニュー・オーリンズの学校が破壊されたことは悲劇ではあるが、これは教育制度をラディカルに改革する機会である。公共の学校を復興するのでなく、この災害を奇禍として、バウチャー（引換券）を各家庭に配布し、私立の教育機関（チャータースクール）を設立し、このバウチャーを活用することによって教育の民営化を促すべきだとした。
このフリードマンの提言を受けて、ブッシュ政権は学校を民営化するための資金を数千万ドルにわたって投入した。ところが、現在、アメリカにおいてはチャータースクールによって教育が二極分化しており、教育の低下が社会階層の固定化に結びつき、かつて公民権運動で勝ち取られた成果が無に帰しつつある。ニュー・オーリンズではカトリーナ前に123校あった公立学校はわずが４つになり、７つしかながった私立学校が31にまで増えた。こうしてニュー・オーリンズは私立教育機関設置の実験場とされた。「公共」の制度を潰して「私」の制度に置き替えていったのだ。
これは日本にとって対岸の火事ではない。
途中で潰えたものの、昨年の安倍政権がやはり教育バウチャー制度を導入しようとしたことを思い出すべきだ。起訴休職中の外務事務官・佐藤優氏は、保守主義と新自由主義の間で股裂きになったのが安倍政権の自壊という現象だと指摘したが、まさに現下の日本の格差社会・貧困社会化には新自由主義の影響がある。こうした事態に対して無自覚であることは政治家にとっては許されない怠慢である。
ここで、急激な民営化に「カトリーナ」という災害が巧妙に利用されたことに注目して、クライン女史はこれを“Disaster Capitalism”、すなわち「災害資本主義」と名づけている。

◆新自由主義は共同体を根こそぎ壊滅させる危険思想
フリードマンは「危機のみが真の変化をもたらす。危機が起きれば、現在ある政策の肩代わりを提案して、政治的に不可能であったことを、政治的に不可避なことにしてしまう」と述べている。いわば、災害に備えて缶詰や水を備蓄しておくのと同様に、災害に備えて新自由主義政策を一気に進めるべく政策を準備しておくというのだ。
このような発案のもとには、フリードマン自身の経験が影響していると見られる。
70年代の半ば、彼はチリの独裁者ピノチェト政権の顧問をしていた。ピノチェト政権にはシカゴ大学経済学部の出身者が大量に登用されており、「シカゴ学派の革命」とも呼ばれた。事実、ピノチェト政権においては減税、自由貿易、民営化、社会政策予算の削減、規制緩和が急激に行われたのである。これらはスピードが大事であるとして、１度にすべてを変えてしまうという方法が採用された。　ここから“ショック療法”という概念が新自由主義に滑り込んできたのである。独裁政権下においては、それは、経済的ショックと同時に拷問という肉体的ショックとも併用されて新自由主義改革が進められた。「敵の意思、考え方あるいは理解力を制御して、敵を文字どおりに行動あるいは対応する能力を失わせる」という“ショック・ドクトリン”が生まれたのである。
クライン女史は、実証的に新自由主義がこの“ショック・ドクトリン”によって推進されてきたことを明らかにしている。たとえば、スリランカにおけるスマトラ沖地震による津波被害の復興である。そこでは被災者をパニック状態に落とし込む一方で、海岸線をリゾート化する計画が進められていた。ニュー・オーリンズでもやはり住民の土地・家屋を修復することもなく、ただ更地にすることだけが進められたのである。
新自由主義にとって邪魔なのは市場原理主義に反するような非資本主義的行動や集団である。そうした非資本主義的集団として、地域共同体や歴史や伝統に根ざした「共同体」が存在するが、新自由主義はこうした集団を徹底的に除去する。災害復興の名目で公共性、共同体を奪い、被災者が自らを組織して主張を始める前に一気に私有化を進めるのである。
これは、日本で行われた新自由主義改革とも一致している。
郵政民営化は、公共財産である郵政事業を民営化するという典型的な新自由主義政策であった。民営化後、郵便局にはテレビカメラが取りつけられ、『郵政百年史』といったような郵政の歴史と文化を記した本も撤去されている。
ショージ・オーウェルが『1984年』で書いたような、きわめて不自然で歴史性を欠いた組織に一気に改変されている。オーウェルは「われわれはあなたを完全に空っぽにし、その体にわれわれを注入する」と不気味な予言をしている。

◆“ショック・ドクトリン”から見えてくる世界
衝撃を与え、一気に新自由主義改革を進めるという“ショック・ドクトリン”から世界を見ると、世界は今までとは異なる姿で立ち現れてくる。「改革」のために平然と人権侵害が行われてきたことに気づくのだ。
アルゼンチンでは３万人を抹殺して、シカゴ学派の提唱する政策を実現した。1993年にはエリツィン政権下のロシアで国会放火事件が起き、その後、国有資産は投げ売りされ、「オリガルヒア」という新興の超資本家が生まれた。1982年のフォークランド紛争も、炭鉱労働者のストライキを敗北して西洋で最初の民営化を強行する結果になった。1999年のＮＡＴＯによるベオグラード空爆も、結局、旧ユーゴでの民営化に結びついたのである。
アジアでは1998年にアジア通貨危機が仕掛けられたが、これによってＩＭＦが介入し、民営化するかさもなくは国家破綻かが迫られた。
その結果、国民の意思ではなく、日本の経済財政諮問会議のような一部の「経済専門家」と称する新自由主義者によって国の政策が支配されることになったのである。
また、天安門事件の大虐殺も“ショック・ドクトリン”の一環と見ることもできる。事件の前年の９月、フリードマンが北京と上海を訪問している。中国が中国流の“ショック・ドクトリン”を利用して開放路線を発動したと考えられるのだ。今年の四川大地震では、現地は復興特需に経済が活発化しているという話も聞こえてくるのだが、中国版災害資本主義が発動されている可能性は高い。　かつて、アイゼンハワー時代にはアメリカ国内ではこの“ショック・ドクトリン”は適用されていなかった。おそらく軍産複合体の行き過ぎを懸念したのである。しかし、レーガノミックスを経た95年ごろから、ネオコンが中心になってショック療法型の経済政策が本格化する。
そして、「9・11」のとき、大統領府はフリードマンの弟子たちで埋め尽くされる。ラムズフェルド国防長官（当時）はフリードマンの親友である。「テロとの戦い」が叫ばれ、恐怖が煽られた。そして何が変わったか。軍隊の民営化、戦争の私有化である。戦地を含む治安維持関連の民間外注が2003年には3512件、2006年には11万5000件にまで増えた。
現代の新自由主義下においては、戦争の経済的役割がまったく違ったものになった。かつては戦争によって門戸を関放し、その後の平和な時代に経済的に干渉するという手法であったが、いまや戦争自体が民営化され、市場化されているのである。だから、確実に儲かる。
クライン女史によると、現にイラクではＰＭＣ（プライベート・ミリタリー・カンパニー）が米正規軍13万人に対して40万人を派遣しており、ハリバートン社は2007年には200億ドルの売り上げをあげ、アメリカ資本のみならずイギリスやカナダ資本も戦争ビジネスで潤っているという。カナダのある会社はプレハブを戦場に売ることで儲け、危険な戦場で働く人のために保険会社が莫大な売り上げをあげているとのことである。
このように見てきたとおり、新自由主義はその「リベラル」で柔らかいイメージとは裏腹に政治的自由とは一切関係なく、それどころか、災害がないならば災害を起こせばよい、ショックを与えて一気に改革を進め、共同体も歴史性も破壊し、市場原理主義というのっぺりとした原則だけで動く世界を構築しようという危険な思想である。
新自由主義者にとっては、そのような共同体も歴史も存在せず、無機質で根無し草的なただ市場原理だけで説明ができる世界というのは、ユートピアに見えているのかもしれない。だが、人間はそのように合理性だけで生きている存在ではない。非合理的感情や共同体意識、歴史性があってこそ人間であり、そうした矛盾も非合理も抱え込んだ人間存在の幸福をはかるのが「政道」である。　

◆新自由主義という名のカルト的危険思想
新自由主義が達成する世界観は、脳に電気刺激を与える人体実験の思想に酷似している。1950年代にＣＩＡがカナダのモントリオールの精神科医とともに人体実験を行ったことが情報開示によって明らかになった。人間の心を人為的に制御することができるかという実験を行っていたのである。1988年には９人の元患者から提訴され、アメリカ政府は75万ドルの賠償金を支払い、カナダ政府は１人10万ドルの賠償を行った。
1940年代、ヨーロッパと北アメリカでは脳に電気刺激を与えるという療法が流行した。脳の切除を行うロボトミー手術よりも永久的なダメージが少ないとされたが、このショック療法においては記憶喪失が起こり、幼児に戻るような後退現象が見られた。この後退現象にＣＩＡが目をつけ、1953年には2500万ドルの予算で人体実験を行った。
これこそが新自由主義のアレゴリーである。記憶を抹消し、まっさらなところに新しい記憶を与えること、これこそが新自由主義の本質であり、危険なのである。
新自由主義は支出を削減し、あらゆる部門を民営化し、意図的に景気後退を生み出す。こうしてショックを与え、さらに新自由主義改革を推し進め、共同体、公共圈を破壊する。そして、歴史性も共同体も失われたところに、市場原理主義を植えつけていく。
こうした新自由主義十字軍ともいうべきカルト的危険思想に、遅まきながらも、世界はようやく気づきだした。ピノチェトですら、政権後期にはシカゴ学派の言うことを聞かなくなった。民営化した鉱山会社はアメリカ資本の傘下に置かれ、国の収入源は民営化しなかった銅山会社だけになってしまい、国民の45％が貧困層になったからである。現代の中南米は明らかに、新自由主義と決別する方向に動いている。　

◆いまこそ新自由主義に抵抗する救国勢力の結束を！　
こうした一連の新自由主義の動きは、ここまで過激ではないにしろ、着実に日本の中でも起きている。たしかに「9.11」や拷問といったような過激な手段は、いまだとられてはいない。しかし、新自由主義に反対する政治家が国策捜査によって政治から追放され、刺客選挙が行われ、郵政民営化をはじめとする小泉・竹中による新自由主義改革によってわが国経済・社会は着実に後退した。幸い、日本は中間層が厚く一気に貧困社会となることはなかったが、非正規雇用、ニートといった潜在的失業率はかつてないほど高まっている。中産階級は劣化し、地方と東京都の格差は拡大の一途をたどっている。
もはや限界は明らかだ。「過ちを改めざるを過ち」と言う。信念の人であれば思い改めることも可能であろうが、カルト相手には決然と戦いを挑まねばならない。新自由主義は将来の発展のために「今は痛みに耐えよ」と言う。だが、その将来とはいつなのか。その間にわが国の共同体、同胞意識は次々に破壊されていく。このままでは、もはや回復不能なまでに破壊されるだろう。
新自由主義に反対の声をあげる者は、旧態依然の「抵抗勢力」と呼ばれる。
だが、市場が原理である必然性などない。公共の学校があってもよいではないか。国営の石油会社が存在して、エネルギーを安定供給することは悪いことなのか。郵便局が国営で何か悪いのか。世の中には自らの責任ならずとも不遇の立場に置かれている人もいる。それらをすべて自己責任であると切って捨てるのが政道なのか。経済的な不平等を解消するために税を徴収し、再配分することは許しがたいことなのか。
われわれはいまこそ、新自由主義に対して決然と「否」を突きつけるべきである。われわれは記憶を抹消され、ロボトミー化されて、市場原理主義しか考えられないような存在となることを望まないからである。新自由主義に対する戦いは人間らしい生存を回復する戦いである。われわれは抵抗しなければならない。
「抵抗勢力と呼ばば呼べ」――われわれは人間性を抑圧する市場原理主義にあくまで抵抗する。来るべき政界再編は、自民党か民主党かなどというレベルのものであってはならない。それは新自由主義に抵抗する救国勢力の結束による日本の再編でなければならないのだ。大震災もあり、禍を転じて福と為す好機である。原発の暴走の真の原因と外国勢力の跋扈の本質を，この本で知ることが出来る。

この本が日本語で出版されたことは、救国勢力を結束させる最良の指南書を得ることになった。

William and Gayle Newman, who were both 22 years old on November 22, 1963, were probably the closest witnesses to President John F. Kennedy when he was assassinated by rifle fire in Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas.

The Newmans and their two young boys were standing at the curb on the north side of Elm Street when they became witnesses to one of the most horrific and most-talked-about events in world history--the murder of President Kennedy.

Immediately after the assassination, the Newman family was driven to Dallas television station WFAA-TV to be interviewed on live TV. At approximately 12:50 PM CST on 11/22/63, which was only about twenty minutes after the President had been slain, Bill and Gayle Newman were telling their story on live television to WFAA program director Jay Watson.

In the second of his two WFAA interviews on November 22, Bill Newman said he heard only two shots fired during the assassination. And in his 11/22/63 affidavit, Newman said that the "shot" (singular) had come from "directly behind me"....which, of course, is NOT the picket fence area of the famous grassy knoll.

STRONG SOLAR ACTIVITY: For the third day in a row, active sunspot AR 11261 has unleashed a strong M-class solar flare. The latest blast at 0357 UT on August 4th registered M9.3 on the Richter Scale of Flares, almost crossing the threshold into X-territory (X-flares are the most powerful kind). The number of energetic protons around Earth has jumped nearly 100-fold as a result of this event.

INCOMING CLOUDS: At least two coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are now en route to Earth, propelled toward us by eruptions in the magnetic canopy of sunspot 1261 on August 2nd and 3rd. Analysts at the GSFC Space Weather Lab have just produced a new 3-D model of the advancing CMEs.

According to the model, Earth's magnetic field will receive a double-strike from the clouds on August 4th at 22:39 UT plus minus 7 hours. Mild to moderate geomagnetic storms are possible when the CMEs arrive

Your Four Gates
I just spoke with a woman who said as soon as she turned 50 her life seemed to have taken an emotional downturn, and she asked me if the reason could be read on her face.
In fact, along with revealing your inner nature, your face is also considered to be a map of your journey through life. You can read the experiences of each year and each decade overall. It’s the transitions between each decade that are the most powerful times, and so this is one reason why she noticed a distinct difference in her experience at this point.
But it’s also believed there are four different stages in life that are particularly important – these are called “The Four Gates” – and she’d just passed through one of them. These are special passages in life, times when you make a powerful transition, and when your attention is drawn to life choices and direction. Each gate introduces you to a time when there will be a new focus and each has some specific “homework” you’ll do in that time period.
The first gate marks the time when you enter the decade of your 40’s, and it’s located at the top of your nose, in the area between your eyes. Your 40’s is a time when you naturally begin to feel strongly about living more authentically, when you sense it’s time to finally stand in your power. You may feel driven to find work that’s more meaningful to you, and to have relationships that support you for who you really are.
The second gate is the transition to the 50’s, where this woman now stands, and is represented on your face by your philtrum, the groove between your nose and upper lip. Here your attention takes another powerful turn.
The theme of the 50’s is about looking at how you don’t yet feel fulfilled in life, how you haven’t yet gotten what you wanted, and you’re especially compelled to look at the balance of giving and receiving in your life. This often means confronting how you may have been over-giving.
Often by the time women reach their 50’s, they’ve developing a pattern of taking care of everyone else before themselves. If they’re wives and mothers, this is an easy rut to fall into, but even if they’re single, our culture supports women being the caregivers in all aspects of life, so they may be too other-directed and have neglected the importance of their own self-care.
The decade of the 50’s can bring up feelings of anguish about how you wanted more in life, and even anger about your current circumstances. The homework for this time of life is to look at how it may have been appropriate to be a “giver” in the past, but you’ve gone too far down that road, or times have changed.
You’re also required to look at how you may have developed a pattern of negative thinking, a belief that because you’re been disappointed in the past, you will continue to be. Any negative affirmations will of course simply continue to create your future based on your past.
The basic cure for this dilemma of the 50’s is to get selfish! The work is to look at what you haven’t yet received, and to go out and get it; to put yourself at the top of your “to-do” list. The lesson is also to pay attention to enjoying life, to relish what you’ve received so far rather than feel bad about what’s missing.
And lastly, it’s to honestly examine how you may have developed a pattern of expecting that you’ll be let down or not get what you need. Are you receptive to life loving you or are you so stuck in feeling disappointed that you’ve shut down and can’t even recognize opportunities to receive?
If there are any scars or markings in your philtrum, this can indicate that the year you turn 50 is an especially difficult transition. The decade of the 50’s overall is represented by your mouth, and it can actually be helpful to pay attention to how you’re holding your mouth as you go through your day. Occasionally check in to see if you feel any tension there, and if so, consciously relax your mouth, even creating a little smile. This actually helps to rebuild your receptivity and contributes to bringing your life back into balance.
Your 50’s can be a powerful time of finally receiving the life you deserve. This is what I shared with my friend, and I know she left that conversation seeing her experience in an entirely different light.
The third gate in life is the passage to the 60’s and this transition is represented by the area on your chin, directly under your lower lip. The 60’s is a time when people can feel revitalized and with a renewed purpose in life, especially if they’ve done their homework in the 50’s. It’s not uncommon for a horizontal wrinkle to mark the face here, and this can indicate an important break with the past as they move into this decade.
The fourth gate is the transition to the 70’s and is positioned at the very bottom of the chin. As you enter this stage of life, your focus turns to refining your vision for the future, working on any unresolved issues, examining what you can let go of in order to move into the future free and clear.
When you learn face reading, you can finally decipher your personal owner’s manual to your life. The information is all there – in that reflection in the mirror!

Should I Date Someone Who Looks Like Me?
They say opposites attract, but there’s a new dating website that claims to be able to find you true love by matching you with someone who has a face that looks like yours. The theory is that the more you look like someone, the greater the chances of success for your relationship with them. They claim that studies on celebrities’ faces show that the ones who have happy marriages tend to look alike. If you consider this within the context of Chinese face reading, which teaches that every feature on your face has specific meanings and messages, you might think this could make sense. If your date’s features are similar to yours, then wouldn’t it be true that you’d be very similar in personality and therefore compatible?
Well, first, we all know human beings are not that simple! We each have a gloriously intricate pattern of temperament, beliefs, talents and foibles! But also, it seems a bit silly to assume that a successful relationship can only happen with someone who’s as much like us as possible. So this got me to thinking about what relationships might be like if people shared certain similar features….
Ears that stick out: If you have two people with ears that stick out from the sides of their heads, this means you have two very willful and independent personalities! So here you have two non-conformists, who may share some similar behaviors, values and perceptions about the outside world, but at home together, this could at times turn into a nightmare of each resisting what the other wants them to do!
Arched eyebrows: Brows that look like upside-down V’s indicate that person will be quick to react. They can be spontaneous, which is lovely, but they also may be too impulsive at times. When upset, they’re often emotionally reactive – if you say something to upset them, they can immediately bristle or challenge you. At the extreme, they can be very excitable emotionally, and that can make for fireworks in a relationship, in good ways but also bad!
Nose bump: A nose that has a boney bump on the bridge (usually about 1/4 to 1/3 from the top of the nose) signifies the potential to be quite controlling. It usually derives from a very high level of personal sensitivity, which makes this person more aware of little details than other people, and more bothered if something is “off.”
It can be a real challenge to move through life seeing all the little mistakes others have made and missed. So the result often is this person feels a need to make sure the mistakes don’t happen, out of a desire to prevent stress to their own system! This can mean they always seem to be butting in to tell you how to do something, or you get the feeling they never trust you to do anything right. Put two people with nose bumps together in relationship and you can have two controllers driving each other crazy!
Visible nostrils: One way the more superstitious form of Chinese face reading refers to the nose is as “the moneybox.” They say that the nostrils show how easily a person spends money. If you ever look at someone straight on at eye level (not looking up at them or down at them) and you can see directly into their nostrils, this means they spend money easily. Though this may sound a bit farfetched, I do find this tends to be true! So if you have two people in relationship who both have visible nostrils, there’s a better chance they’ll love to spend and will end up with money problems, certainly not the most optimistic trend if you’re hoping for a successful partnering.
Round face: People with round faces often excel in really enjoying all the pleasures of life here on earth. They love the company of family and friends, wonderful meals together, a cozy and comfy home, and relaxing on a big cushy couch with their feet up. They’re not much inclined toward exercise, and so if you put two of these people together, you’ll find they tend to influence each other – to just cuddle together in front of the TV, snacks in hand, and over time, put on weight. They may actually have a good relationship in certain ways because they can get in the same rut together, but worst case, can develop health problems due to poor diet choices and lack of exercise.
It’s definitely important to understand what messages your date’s face reveals, but maybe you should beware if they look too much like you!

Do Your Eyes Light Up?

I’ve just returned from spending Christmas with my 93 year old mother and my heart is still full. My mother’s always been an amazing woman. When she was 89, I took her to one of the foremost acupuncturists in the world, and she was proclaimed to be a very rare case– a woman of that age whose spirit was still completely bright and vital.
Things have changed over the past year, and her spirit has dimmed considerably. She’s no longer able to live on her own, and is not often even fully conscious. But when she looks at me, there’s such light in her eyes, and such pure love, that I just feel totally cherished by her.
On my flight home, I was reading an interview with Oprah, where she talked about author Toni Morrison saying that what every child wants to know is, ‘Do your eyes light up when I enter the room?’ This is the gift my mother still gives me and I’m so very grateful.
When I was writing The Wisdom of Your Child’s Face, I did a lot of research into the latest discoveries in our Western understanding of child development. I was surprised to learn that the most important thing a child needs from his or her parents is not heaps of praise, and not even frequent “I love you’s,” though of course those things are essential.
But in fact, the single most powerful predictor of a child’s happiness and success in life is how much they feel recognized and understood by their parents. To me, this is what’s happening when a parent’s eyes light up at the sight of their child.
And I don’t think that need ends with childhood. I think the people who we feel most connected with and loved by are the ones who recognize us for who we really are, without layers of judgment, and without conditional love, which has strings attached.
This isn’t always easy to achieve. We all have different personalities, different patterns of perception and behavior, and these can really affect our ability to feel that pure love for and acceptance of another person. We misunderstand why someone in our lives is behaving as they are, or has the needs that they do. And over the years, these tiny misperceptions can build on themselves, until that light in the eyes goes out.
My mother and I are not at all alike; in fact we’ve always been very different from each other. Face reading has helped me so much in understanding her as an adult, but also in looking back throughout my childhood to give me insights about why she was the kind of parent that she was, and why I had the experiences I did because of this. It’s what has allowed me to stay as clear and free of unresolved issues as possible with her, and to just be fully present with her, with that beautiful light in her eyes, and the same reflected back in mine.

Cheeks and Career Choices!
If you learn how to read faces, you’ll never be bored again – there’s such fascinating information available around you every day! Here are some thoughts about how just one feature can indicate potential career direction:
This fall, I spoke at an international conference for estheticians and spa professionals. As I gazed at the hundreds of faces around me, I suddenly noticed that nearly all of them had gigantic cheeks!
In face reading, each feature has many messages for you, about who you really are, what’s important to you, and your special patterns of perception of life. But a few of the things that cheeks represent made obvious sense in this situation:
One of the personality characteristics that prominent cheeks indicate is someone who naturally pays close attention to details, and has an inherent desire to create beauty in life. So it’d certainly make sense that a person attracted to a career as an esthetician would have powerful cheeks!
In Chinese medicine, each feature also correlates to a specific organ system in the body. (Face reading originated as a diagnostic tool for health purposes.) Interestingly, one of the things the cheeks relate to is the health of the skin – so again, we see how these cheeks would incline someone to be naturally attracted to a career doing detailed work to create beautiful skin!
But shortly after that conference, I attended another, this time about Buddhist psychology. I found myself in a room surrounded by therapists and other healers interested in applying mindfulness techniques to help others achieve peace and balance in their lives. The focus was on powerful ways for people to observe their thoughts and feelings and start to take more responsibility for their choices in life.
And as I looked around, I realized that nearly everyone in the room had flat cheeks! I had to laugh – one of the things that flat cheeks represent is someone who doesn’t want to have to take responsibility for another person’s work. It’s usually taken as a sign they’d not enjoy managing a staff, as they don’t like to constantly have to check up on people and remind them to do their jobs.
But another way flat cheeks can be interpreted is someone who’ll not want to boss another person around – that they want them to take responsibility for their own progress. This is exactly the way these flat-cheeked therapists would be attracted to working with clients, and why they would be interested in this conference!
It’s amazing what you can discover in the faces around you if you just know what to look for!

School of One!
As I worked on my new book, The Wisdom of Your Child’s Face, I observed so many times how a child’s true nature was misperceived by parents or teachers, how their spirit was already being diminished by the lack of recognition and support for what they personally needed in order to succeed in school.
Chinese face reading shows us how unique each child is in every way, and that includes his or her learning style at school. There are actually simple, effective things that can be done to accommodate a child’s specific needs for integrating information in the best possible way for them. In my book, I have sections for teachers that give them ideas for dealing with different personality types. Things as small as where a child sits in the room, the way they’re spoken to, even how often they can get up and move around can have a surprising impact on their ability to function well in school.
That’s why I was so happy to read an article in The Atlantic Magazine about “School of One” (see link below) that offers a wonderful new way of re-thinking our educational system so that every child’s personal needs are honored without making unreasonable demands on teachers. We can change our schools from the mass-production model!
My only quibble with this idea is that they think they need a mathematical algorithm for this system! If only they knew how to read the kids’ faces! That would give them the information they need to know how each child best integrates information, relates to the teacher, their flow through the day and more. Well, maybe eventually face reading will be an additional tool to make life easier for more educators and parents!

As a comet is on a collision course with earth, humans have to prepare for their survival. They randomly select eight hundred thousand people to be saved in order to keep the human race alive.

A teenage astronomer and his teacher discover an object amongst the stars at night. Little do they know that it's a comet on a direct collision course for earth. After the teacher dies in a car crash trying to report his findings the President announces the comet's existence. He also states that there is no need to panic, because NASA is going to send astronauts on the space mission, Messiah. Their mission is to destroy the comet before it gets too close to the earth. When Messiah backfires, the President announces that special caves will have to be built, and the government will have to have a lottery-of-fate to randomly select 800,000 ordinary American citizens to go along with 200,000 scientists, soldiers, and other officials. These 1,000,000 people will be set aside to save the population from extinction when the comet hits.

A young man who's part of his school's astronomy club sees something in the sky that is not known. So they take a picture of it and send it to their adviser who, upon seeing it, jumps into his car and crashes. A year later a reporter who's investigating why a member of the President's cabinet resigns when she goes to speak to him he says he wants to be with his family. Later she's brought before the President who asks her to keep what she knows under wraps for now. She convinces him to call a Press Conference so that he can tell everyone what's going on. Later at a Press Conference, the President announces that a year ago that two astronomers discovered something; a comet. And eventually that it's course will take it to earth but the problem is that the comet is so big that if it strikes it will cause what is known as an Extinction Level Event which will wipe out all life on the planet. And he announces that for sometime the government along with a few others have been building a vessel that will sent to intercept the comet. The reporter then asks the President if the reason why his Cabinet member resigned is because he doesn't believe the plan will work. The President assures them that they have thought it out carefully. In the meantime the young man who found the comet is being hailed as a hero. And the crew who's going to stop the comet makes their farewells to their families.

When a big force and character passes away, the initial effects are devastating. At first you mourn the loss and even reproach yourself then, as time passes, you look to the future, focussing on the positive elements. What have we lost? What can we learn? Richard John Clay, born 5th August 1982 in Scunthorpe, UK, was a musician, graphic designer, web designer, writer, researcher and charismatic genius whose mission was to bring fairness, abundance and joy to all human beings. At school in Scunthorpe he achieved top grades in nearly everything he did. It was during this time, whilst studying for his “A” levels, that Rik found his passion for music
Attending Leeds Metropolitan University from 2001 to 2004, graduating with a 2/1 degree in Multi Media Technology, Rik subsequently went on to work in graphic / web design for a number of companies.
At the age of 16 he founded the band FULC, who, over the course of their youthful development went on to become a highly respected rock band. Between the years 2001 and 2005 FULC released 4 records – “Void” EP ( 2001 ), “The Fallen” EP ( 2002 ), “Biting Insomnia” Album ( 2003 ), “Embrace.Destroy” Mini Album ( 2005 ) – all critically acclaimed nationally in the UK Rock Press. FULC toured the UK relentlessly for 4 years and toured Germany in 2005 to support the release of the records there.
Rik joined rock band Ten Seconds of Chaos between 2006 and 2007 and started his solo project Somewhere Not Here during 2006.
In July 2006 Rik met his life partner Mick Bullock and together they began an escalating campaign of travel and research. He developed interests in a great number of fascinating fields, including crop circles and sacred geometry, Reiki and Shamanism, free energy research, ancient mythology and Pyramidology, the global consciousness and the noosphere, reincarnation theory, 2012 and the Mayans, precession of the equinoxes, talismans, synchronicity, telepathy, holographic universal theory, and all things esoteric.
Between September 2006 and May 2008 his journey took him to Spain, Italy, Egypt, Malta, Wales, Poland, The Netherlands, France and Mexico. The extreme wealth of information and wisdom that ensued precipitated the Cosmic Mind Blog, which allowed Rik to spread his knowledge and findings to people all over the world. After 3 months the blog had attracted a regular readership in excess of 30,000 people and his growing popularity led him to give interviews on Red Ice Creations Radio.
Sadly for all of us, the sheer speed and intensity of the research eventually caused him to experience a sudden internal episode which stripped away his bounding energy and insight. A day less than 11 weeks later, on 28th August 2008, at the age of 26, Rik ended his own life in Ilkley. Whilst we will never really know what took Rik to his final decision, those closest to him have been able to put together a few pieces of the puzzle that help in understanding where his mind was.
Rik's ashes are scattered upon Ilkley Moor, overlooking the town above Rocky Valley, at grid ref 126464.
At the Rik Clay Foundation, for those of us who remain on the Earthly plane, we intend to continue his legacy by consolidating and promoting projects which emulate his ideals. We wish to sow the seeds in vision of a holistic society and culture to nourish all human beings with health and abundance.
